| Sometimes I want to wail at the moon, even knowing it won't change a thing. I have the urge to just... LET IT OUT! I get it. I do. Really. I hate it, but I see it. I'm truly starting to understand that America isn't ready for gay marriage. Or maybe I don't. Cuz every time a state passes some stupid ignorant legislation my shoulders tense, and my stomach churns... and I want to SCREAM at the injustice. I want it to make sense. And it doesn't. Taking away or denying rights shouldn't be something this country is about. I hate it. I'm ashamed of it.
I can't stand that we're allowing this to happen. The whole thing with Adam Lambert and the AMA's is such blatant discrimination, I'm in shock. Sometimes it feels like I don't live in the real world. That I've made a place in my head where people share my values, and beliefs... That my level of optimism is unreal. I am genuinely floored every time these laws get passed, or that ABC is just allowed to cancel performance after performance under the guise of FCC regulations. The same regulations that let Brit & Madonna kiss on primetime... and Pink to simulate oral sex on stage at the 2004 Billboard awards. But heaven forbid a gay man be sexual! Now you have gone too far.
I just... am so frustrated. ABC isn't truly the problem. Neither is the FCC... or even the NY Senate. They are just symptoms. Run by people. Knowledge is the only thing that can truly open a mind... so I guess we just have to keep speaking up. But lately? It feels like we're building more walls, than tearing em down.

| Don't forget to tune into Eastwick tonight at 10 pm on ABC. It's Darren's last appearance; what did you think of the episode?
For those in the UK, Eastwick began airing on November 24 on the Hallmark channel. The next showings are on December 5 at 10 pm & 11 pm and December 6 at 2 pm. I'm not certain if they're going to air the entire season or not.

• From TORn: The Hobbit Pushed to 2012? A few days ago, we reported here that Peter Jackson has indicated filming for The Hobbit will be delayed to mid-2010. Doing the math on how long it took to film The Lord of the Rings movies was sobering with respect to achieving a 2011 release, but we found reason to be optimistic in the fact that many sets, set designs, etc. won’t have to be created from scratch. Today, however, we’ve been alerted to more sobering news on the release from the WaxWord blog over at thewrap.com: “Executives close to the project said that Warner Brothers is now likely to release the first film at the end of 2012, and not at the end of 2011 as had been hoped for by the fans. The second part would be pushed to 2013.” No need to lose hope for a 2011 release yet though. The article also quoted PJ as saying a final decision about the release dates won’t be made until the screenplays, budget and schedule are complete. More than ever, all eyes are on Guillermo, Peter, Fran, Phillipa and the studio.

DISCUSSIONS OF INTEREST: • Via The One Ring Forums Forums: Movie Discussion - The Hobbit Peter Jackson: First Script Is Completed - At a press conference for The Lovely Bones, Peter Jackson has confirmed that the first script for The Hobbit is completed. "The Hobbit will be two movies and we've written the first script and delivered it to the studio whom seem happy with it", the New Zealander told reporters. "We're now halfway through the second script and Philippa, Fran, Guillermo and myself are doing the scripts and having great fun".
Hobbit 1 Will End Here... Because (I'd Put Money On It) - To me it's very obvious and brilliant if the final moments of the Hobbit (1) end with some dramatic music in the background and a wide shot of the Lonely mountain. Much like the Two Towers ended. So i think it's safe to say that the film will split before the death of the dragon. It will show the remaining party walking towards the mountain and you will see it looming in the distance above low lying clouds. It will be epic and also hinting at what to come for Bilbo and the rest. CLASSIFIED:• From lotrips_finders: Help the Newbie! - I've been reading in this fandom for just a month or so. I've been a LOTR fan for some 30+ years, but I haven't read the fic till now. I love the characters but I've been afraid the fic would just be too sad, like the books. I've explored some of the archives like West of the Moon, and found some very good fics, but alot of them are just too angsty for me. I would adore to read some long, slashy, romantic, happy Frodo/Sam stories, where the Quest doesn't happen, or happens years later, or happens in such a way the Frodo and Sam are happy together in the end. Does anyone have some recs for me? RESEARCH AIDS:Where did the hobbits come from? - Although Tolkien says, that the Hobbits are closer to men, than to any other race of Endor, the question of their origin is still open. TRIVIA: Yesterday’s BOOK question: What was the name of the Eomer’s sword meaning ‘battle-friend’?
Answer: Gúthwinë
the_marquis, bagma, lindahoyland and frolijahfan all answered correctly.
Today's MOVIE question: Who catches the bouquet at Sam's and Rosie's wedding in RotK?

| So I knew that Randall Terry got his start in my town. I did not know just how intimately connected with the clinic I am at (for school*) he was until I decided to read up on it (around page 248). The clinical director, who I chat with about dogs and look at pictures of children with, is still there! The one who had to deal with Terry and his obstructing, harassing, chaining-self-in-procedure-room early ways. It makes me wonder if stupidhead hadn't moved away what would have happened. I am glad it is no longer the screaming, slamming bodies into cars, fist-fights they once were - because of being on private property and bubble laws - but still in the back of my head I think about how it was. Here. And it really brings home how dedicated this awesome staff is, that they got through all of this and are still at it, and don't explode in anger at how Terry is still at large and barely concealing his delight at the deaths of abortion providers. We go about the day, counseling, teaching, providing, even to women who say they are against abortion. And my school instructor finds it surprising we do not allow boyfriends and such beyond the waiting room. *They offered me a job, which I totally would have taken them up on if I wasn't moving out of the area after I graduate, in a month. | |

| 01. Name: Alexandra 02. How did you find out about Hogwarts Elite? I was poking around LJ looking for an interesting journal and found alliana07 in an icon-making community. It turns out she had a Hufflepuff banner that led me here! 03. What made you start reading the Harry Potter series? As a girl, I always wanted to be an illustrator. One of my favorite illustrators was Mary Grandpre and while my mother was away on business in New York, she noticed a display loaded with Mary Grandpre illustrations and bought me The Sorcerors Stone. It was the very first week the book had come out in the US, and I was hooked from day one. ( To the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure! ) | |
